Cookin & Crafts is Back
After a hiatus for a couple of years, our annual fall fundraiser is back. It will be November 8, from 11:00 am to 7:30 pm. We will be serving our traditional chicken & noodles or stew. There will be a great salad bar and a great selection of desserts.
In addition to a fine meal, you may purchase from a wonderful selection of baked goods and enter the craft room to select a fine craft or art piece to take home with you. Remember, all proceeds go toward the purchase of a new vehicle for John Mahunji.
John is the Director of Africal Ministries for Friends United Meeting. He works with the 400,000 Quakers in East Africa to coordinate efforts. This includes over 1500 Quaker sponsored schools, 2 hospitals, an orphanage and 2000 churches. His office is in Kisumu, Kenya, but he travels constantly visitng throughout the area. John's old 1984 Toyota is dying a slow and painful death and needs to be replaced.
Vehicles in Kenya cost about double what a corresponding vehicle would cost in the US. It will cost about $40,000 to replace Johns truck. If you have met John, you know that he is a hard working, deserving person. Every $ of proceeds from this event will go directly to the purchase of a new vehicle for John.
