Welcome Friends
"Welcome Friends" is the greeting most often heard at the beginning of one of our meetings. And we would love to say it to you.
Worship at West Newton is semi-programmed, a combination of the unprogrammed worship of the earliest Quakers and the programmed style of worship that you would recognize at other churches. We sing, we pray, and we have a sermon. But we also sit in "quiet waiting" believing that God can speak directly to us as individuals. During our time of quiet waiting, sometime God's Spirit will move an attender to stand and speak to the gathering.
We are convinced that there are many people in the Indianapolis area who believe as we do and would enjoy being a part of West Newton Friends. Quakers are rooted in the Christian faith and make a big deal about our "social testimonies." We are serious about simplicity, peacemaking, integrity, community, and equality. If you are interested in further explanation, please visit the Quakerism 101 section of our website, or just come visit us in person. We would love to say "welcome friend."
